The Iraqi Children's Art Exchange
Baghdad Resolve

The Iraqi Children's Art Exchange (2001) uses photography, art, and art-inspired projects to advocate for Iraq and for Iraqis. We are a transcultural project based in the USA. Our partners, Drs. Salma Al-Haddad and Mazin Al-Jadiry are pediatric oncologist/ hematologists working at Children's Welfare Teaching Hospital in Medical City Baghdad. Our work is multifaceted, and multidisciplinary. It sits at the intersection of education and psychology, art and medicine, resilience, psychosocial intervention and children's rights as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Baghdad Resolve: An International Collaboration to Improve Cancer Care in Iraq is our response, in 2013, to the ongoing crisis for children in Iraq, especially children suffering from cancer and leukemia. Our goal is to improve diagnosis, care and outcomes of pediatric cancer patients in Iraq. We want to create opportunities for international partners to work with Iraqi doctors, hospitals and civil society organizations in developing and sustaining holistic projects and programs to identify and help meet the needs of pediatric cancer patients, their families and the doctors, nurses and medical staff who care for them.
