In the fall of 2008, a group of Iraqi children and youth worked under the direction and inspiration of Iraqi artists Falah Al Saeidi to finish the mural begun in California the previous summer. They painted at the Dar Al Anda Gallery, working inside when the weather was bad, and outside when the weather permitted.

The youth in this project were given disposable cameras and asked to document their lives—whatever they wanted—to give viewers a context for the mural. Here is a sampling of some of the short comments that accompanied their photographs.

The completed mural came back the the US where it has been displayed a number of times. It appeared at Amherst College, Mead Art Museum in the spring as part of Saving Antiquities exhibit commemorating the looting and destruction of the Baghdad Art Museum in 2003, and it appeared on exhibit at the Northampton Center for the Arts as well.
